i learned how to search for books and articles for papers and also for getting more information and news

i also learned how to do works citation through refwork which i find very important

i learned more ways to benifit from wordpress since i already have another blog that i use to publish my writings and now i learned more tricks to use

i am not confused about anything but i would like to spend more time on Ref Work and experimenting more databases and websites and maybe do my own website

What did you like about blogging through WordPress?

blogging in wordpress is amazing as you could attach photos and add links and tags.. its so organized and very helpful

What didn’t you like about blogging through WordPress?

actually the only thing i didn’t like about blogging through wordpress is that we used it very specific in only submitting our assignments but we didn’t check the blogs of other peoples or wrote something that is opinionated for example

Objective:

The mission of the UC Atlas of Inequality is to provide online teaching resources and tools to enable student exploration of global change. Aspects of 21st Century global integration and inequality present great challenges to university teaching. The UC Atlas of Global Inequality attempts to address these challenges using the Internet, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology and new graphical capabilities of digital media to enhance learning in Geography, Sociology, Economics, Health, Technology and Environmental Studies. The Atlas integrates data, maps, and graphs to create an interactive website for accessing and analyzing information addressing global change and inequality.

The UC Atlas of Global Inequality promotes knowledge sharing between disciplines by utilizing a technological platform that combines GIS and database technology with Internet multi-media components. This project enables the exploration of global inequality and change by:

1) Making learning objects available for instructors, using the Internet, GIS and database technologies to improve teaching and student understanding.

2) Promoting analysis through technology that enables students to understand and quantify global changes and to encourage understanding of the geo-spatial patterns of global inequality.

3) Provoking critical thinking through cross-discipline learning and research on global inequality.

Instructors are able to present and explore spatially located, quantitative data, using web-enabled GIS and database technologies coupled with a variety of multi-media enhancements. Subsequently, students are able to explore the Atlas individually or in groups to analyze and compare qualitative and quantitative data.

Frank Lechner, Associate Professor of Sociology at Emory University, started this site in 2000 and provided most of its content. Teresa Loftin, senior web developer at Tuft University, designed the site. John Boli, Professor of Sociology at Emory, contributed to the content.

Some of the materials specifically support Sociology 266, Global Change, a foundation course in the sociology major at Emory that has been taught since 1997. Several faculty teach sections of this course on a regular basis. The course recognizes the importance of global awareness for today’s college students and reflects the Emory sociology department’s focus on international research.

The University Teaching Fund Committee at Emory provided financial support for the initial development of this site.

Peter Mandelson argue that we needs inovators of the young generation so they could revive the economy because its not a problem of resourses but a problem of investing these resources efficiently and effectively.

and i agree with him because the young generation has the creativity and potential to give. also diversification of inovators is essential for more creativity so i believe young generation should be given the chances to prove themselves

I would use lexis and nexis to search for more academic news and information. also in an investigation or analysis i would use it as well.

When i want to get a quick information or background information about a topic but not an indepth analysis of news or investigative news

Communication and Mass Media Complete database seems easier to use than Global Newsbank because of the friendly user layout and the advanced search option so one can get to refine his search

Communication and Mass Media Complete would also be better than Global Newsbank for quick search because of the friendly user layout and easy way of finding articles also because the Global newsbank is most focus only on news and wired news so a research may want more than news

for an indepth research again i would choose Communication and Mass Media Complete rather than the Global Newsbank because of the wide search options offerd and wide range of materials and desciplines
